Since its establishment in 2010, Instagram has grown to be the world’s largest photo sharing social platform. The app found early success, gaining its first million users within the first two months of its launch. Soon, it had the attention of Facebook, and in 2012, Instagram was bought by the powerhouse platform.
Plenty has changed since the birth of the app. With recent additions like Instagram live, stories and messaging, it doesn’t look like the platform will fall behind anytime soon. Instagram has space for everyone from professional content creators to family over-sharers.
A major segment of the platform however, goes to businesses. What started as a fun way to edit images and share with friends has become a major ally to companies large and small, in getting their name out.
This blog will explore the varied use of Instagram to market to the masses. Specifically in the industries of beauty and fashion. In coming weeks, I’ll look into socially centered companies and the tools they used to find success.
